StainerShield® XT slide labels allow histology labs to use barcode technology to permanently,
positively and reliably identify specimen slides, even when subjected to the most extreme environments. StainerShield XT is designed for slide labeling across all lab protocols,
including special stains, IHCs, cytopathology and other protocols that require exposures
to specialized chemicals and stains beyond standard H&E protocols. StainerShield XT's
extreme technology is built to withstand:
StainerShield XT uses a specially designed label and thermal printer ribbon that are specifically formulated and matched to withstand extreme laboratory specimen processing. No overlaminate flap is required for image protection. Once printed and applied to the slide, StainerShield XT slide labels will resist the most extreme lab protocols without fading, degrading or separating from the slide. StainerShield XT slide labels produce clear, crisp printed barcodes and text that remain legible and produce successful scans, even after extreme stainer processing.
StainerShield XT labels are printed using a desktop thermal label printer. These small-footprint printers can be placed at individual cutting stations, supporting a lean, efficient and error-free workflow where bar coded cassettes are scanned at the cutting stations to print the specific slides labels for that case as the tissue is cut. This process greatly improves workflow efficiencies and eliminates many common specimen
mis-matching errors.
Labs use StainerShield XT slide labels to print variable data (including lab and patient-specific information, block, cut and accession numbers) in both text and bar code format, and apply the labels to the slides at the microtome cutting stations as they are produced. This assigns a unique identifier to the specimen that enables the slide to be tracked from cutting to staining, checkout and review, and archiving. Pathologists and technicians can simply scan the barcode on the slide label to call up individual patient and case information in the lab's information system.
