History
General Data was founded in 1981 by Peter Wenzel as a distributor of line, matrix and related printing equipment. As the barcode industry grew, General Data became a national distributor, integrator and service provider for barcode printing, scanning and automated data collection equipment. Soon after, General Data added label manufacturing and converting capabilities to better serve the growing demand.
As the demand for labels in unique custom applications and harsh environments increased, General Data expanded its capabilities, adding specialized label manufacturing and converting equipment and a full research, development and testing lab.
In 2009, General Financial and Tax Consulting was formed. With the experience and ability to provide a host of tax consulting and financial services to companies in diverse industries, GFTC is able to utilize advanced barcode tagging, scanning, data collection and wireless technologies to provide unique fixed asset management solutions.
Today
General Data is recognized as an expert resource for all aspects of labeling and identification, barcode data collection, field mobility, equipment service, fixed asset management, and managed print services. General Data's "total solutions" approach enables customers to utilize our expertise in all areas - planning, equipment specification, label media, printer consumable, system integration, customization and professional services.
General Data's corporate headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio USA is home to our label manufacturing and converting operation, as well as our research, development and testing lab. This facility is certified to the ISO 9001 international standard for quality management.
