Firebug RM™ is an automated barcode inspection system that can be used to inspect any safety device. The three main components of the Firebug RM system are the browser based software, mobile computers and barcode labels. The software manages the database of safety devices, records inspection results, organizes the scheduling of critical inspection dates and provides reports that can be sorted hundreds of ways. The durable industrial grade mobile computer is installed with the Firebug software which allows it to perform inspections, move inventory, add locations, safety equipment and more. The Firebug mobile software directs the inspector through their inspection using clear, easy-to-understand prompts and directions, while the predesigned route ensures no inspection is missed.

The old system of inspecting your safety equipment frequently resulted in mistakes or missed inspections, and consequently faulty equipment, loss of property and harm to individuals. Missed inspections or mistakes could also result in fines and loss of accreditation by regulatory agencies. With Firebug, Safety Managers now have the peace of mind that inspections are complete and reports are accurate!

Once you’ve decided to purchase Firebug, you have three options of how to install the software:

  • Web Server, hosted by General Data
  • Single Computer – for a high security solution
  • Internal Network Server – Many tracking solutions will not offer this option, this sets General Data and Firebug apart from our competitors.

After installation, extinguishers and other safety devices are entered into the system. Each device is assigned a location and an attached tag ID in the form of a barcode label.  Inspection dates are recorded and the system is updated.  All this can be entered at the desktop or using the mobile hand held computer.  General Data can also assist with the importing of data into Firebug.

Once the data has been entered into the system, inspection schedules can be set up.  In Firebug, these schedules are easily organized as inspection routes. The routes are synchronized to the mobile computer and issued to inspectors. For each route, the inspectors are provided a list of locations and correlating safety devices due for inspection.  For each device, the location and asset barcode labels are scanned by the mobile computer. The software then prompts the inspector to pass or fail the device. If the device is failed, the inspector is able to mark why and provide notes for follow up. As the assets are inspected, they are removed from the route.  A route cannot be completed unless all the devices are accounted for, assuring that every device is inspected.

Upon completion of a work day or periodically, the hand held mobile computer syncs the inspection results to the main workstation.  Every safety device inspection is automatically date and time stamped, along with the technician who completed it. Once the data is uploaded,  multiple inspection reports are available.

The benefits of the Firebug solution are countless, but here are just a few.

Never miss an extinguisher or safety device inspection

As we mentioned earlier, the software will not allow you to close out a route unless you have inspected every device on the route. This is a great way to ensure that you are performing a 100% accurate and dependable inspection every time.
